What do we do at Toki?

School of Music and the Arts
Rapa Nui is the most isolated inhabited spot on Earth. It’s 3,500 km from South America and relies on expensive imported goods to meet its basic needs. Opportunities for personal growth are scarce because of this isolation. Since 2012 NGO Toki Rapa Nui has offered children and adolescents free classes in classical and traditional areas and currently has more than 120 students. Our pillars are the School of Music, social and environmental protection, and the preservation of the ancestral Rapa Nui legacy.
Cultural Rescue

The Rapa Nui School of Music and the Arts

We offer free classes to more than 120 children and adolescents in classical areas and ancestral traditions. This enables them to develop their talents without emigrating and avoids the inevitable de-culturalization that follows.

Environmental Protection

We work on projects to protect the environment, such as reforestation with native trees, environmental education, ancestral farming, an agro ecological farm, and the construction of the first totally self-sustainable School of Music..

Social Protection

We offer a free space to children and adolescents without discrimination. Toki’s students learn the value of team work, constancy, discipline, steadiness, respect, and perseverance.

Cultural Preservation

Toki Rapa Nui is an NGO that works to rescue and preserve the culture through traditional workshops for children and adolescents taught in the Rapanui language.
